About The Rooted Collective

The Rooted Collective’s mission is to, first and foremost, cultivate community.

In May 2020, I left my first job, family, and friends in pursuit of a new journey in Redondo Beach, CA. I did not know anyone in the area and was an essential worker amid a global pandemic. It was during this transition that I realized how important having a good community is, both personally and professionally. The needs I began to see in the families I am grateful to serve were starkly apparent. My families needed a community to help them navigate new terrains (IEPs, therapies, doctors, evaluations, etc.), feel seen, and succeed at home in building relationships and lives with their neurodiverse children. The Rooted Collective was cultivated to meet these needs. RC’s mission is to create a place of community for families with neurodiverse children through accessible evidence-based resources, education, and in-home services. The importance of being seen and understood in order to thrive is at the heart of The Rooted Collective. We are happy you are here. Come cultivate your own unique and individualized garden and become rooted to grow.

Educating families

Education is the catalyst required for change and adaptation. Research shows that parents’ self-efficacy, confidence and mental health all improve with education and educational tools about how to help their child.

There aren't enough words to express my appreciation for Jessie's work with my son and our family. Without her support, I often wonder where we would be, and most especially where my relationship with my son would be. Jessie helped me to understand the depth of the challenges my child was experiencing. Through her direct work with him, and how she educated me, I was able to see my son more fully and understand how his underlying sensory challenges were impacting his behaviors. She helped me learn to meet him where he was, see how hard was trying, and helped us, as a family, find accessible ways to support him as he sought to learn and grow. The transformation we saw in him from the time he began with her amazes me. We still have struggles, but I feel confident in meeting my child, supporting him and most importantly, I know I have a strong and connected relationship with him. Jessie's work with my son was life-changing and it has made all the difference for our family.

Client

Jessie has had such a profound impact on my son (and our family as a whole). Her deep knowledge, as well as sincere compassion, helped our child blossom from a 5 year-old who could barely hold a crayon properly to a creative 8 year-old whose passion is art and animation. Had it not been for Jessie’s work with him, we would have never realized the creative spirit that was bubbling just underneath the surface of our sweet boy. She helped open a window that has allowed him to express himself in such fantastic ways. Jessie will forever be an amazing part of our son’s journey, and we are incredibly grateful to her!

Client

Jessie has been an invaluable resource for my son with autism for the last 4 years. She is knowledgeable, smart, caring and passionate about OT. Her conceptualization of the body and what the needs of our kids are has allowed us to support him better at home. I would recommend her to any family looking to understand their child needs and work together as a team to help them!
